INTRODUCTION – WHY A CHARTER?
Coaching Tools and Resources is an exciting venture for us – to give back to the Coaching Community we love so much and which has supported us in an incredible fashion over the past few decades.
We want to make sure you have all the information possible as to what this service is, why it exists, what drives us to offer it and how we will be sustaining the initiative through our own efforts as well as your contributions.
Therefore a charter seemed the most appropriate way of raising awareness, being authentic, demonstrating integrity, operating with respect and delivering on professionalism – all of these things are our core values in action.

VISION
Coaching Tools and Resources is the first place both new and experienced coaches and similar helping professionals visit when looking for the materials, tools, forms, techniques and other resources they need to support the ongoing development of themselves and the clients they serve.
MISSION
Coaching Tools and Resources hosts, develops and maintains a search portal to connect coaches and similar helping professionals with the tools, resources and providers they need. We are coaches ourselves and understand the various needs related to Mastery of Self, Mastery of Coaching, Mastery of Business and Mastery of Industry. We use our knowledge and the feedback, questions and ideas from our colleagues, to source what coaches are looking for, and to continuously improve our systems to deliver on those needs. We are guided in business by our values including being responsible caretakers of the environment, as well as being both socially and commercially responsible in all of our activities.
VALUES
The Coaching Tools and Resources service is based on the following values:
- Awareness We understand that the simplest coaching model is 1) Raise Awareness, 2) Make Decisions and 3) Modify Behaviour (Take Action). We use this model to grow ourselves and our business in terms of Mastery of Self, Mastery of Coaching, Mastery of Business and Mastery of Industry. We also receive coaching, mentoring and supervision to support us in our ongoing awareness adventure.
- Authenticity We appreciate that there are lots of different types of organisations serving the coaching community. We are one of many choices and we recognise that to make choices based on trust and respect, that you will require trust and respect from us. We believe that is best achieved by being fully transparent in everything we do and encouraging conversation around ethics, behaviour, commercialism and any other topic you wish to engage with us about.
- Integrity Quite simply, you can always count on us to demonstrate best practice in all of our individual and collective business activities. Furthermore, you can count on us as individuals to behave in the same way. This business is a reflection of the individuals who have built and maintain it.
- Respect We respect that everyone is on their own journey. They will get to where they want to get to, when and how they wish to get there, and that they have many choices about who may travel with them on their journey. Respect requires that there is room for everyone without judgement of experience, skills, credentials or success. We invite and encourage all coaches and helping professionals to be a leader of their own development processes and to ask us for what they need, when and how they need it.
- Professionalism Being ethical in everything we do is our foundation. Delivering a quality service at all levels is what drives us daily. We absolutely welcome feedback of any type, and respond appropriately, as this is how we can live fully with the rest of our values.
Additionally, as Coaching Tools and Resources is a service of Incredible Awareness, we also honour the Vision, Mission and Values of Incredible Awareness, which can be read here.
COMMERCIAL VIABILITY / SUSTAINABILITY
Coaching Tools and Resources is a for-profit venture and therefore has financial business objectives as well as objectives related to our focus on customers, internal business process and learning and development, a Balanced Scorecard approach.
We have chosen the Balanced Scorecard approach to our business leadership, strategic planning and operational implementation as it is the most sound of the business models we’ve explored, which keeps us “present” to how our everyday activities relate to both our past performance and wisdom and our future goals and opportunities.
We did investigate the potential for this service to run as a not-for-profit organisation and decided against it because the main operational resources (our staff) all are professional coaches who need to be financially rewarded for their contribution and we felt that a not-for-profit model could be too difficult to achieve the levels of reward we wish to provide.
While exploring this decision, we of course developed our budget outline to start up the venture and to maintain it. Here’s a brief snapshot provided for authenticity purposes:
First Year / Start Up
- Technology start up costs = A$ 8,000.00
- Technology Yearly Maintenance = A$15,000.00
- Administration / Director (Noel Posus) = A$20,000.00
- Research / Writing (Claire Stretch) = A$12,000.00
- Research / Writing (Sarah Hue-Williams) = A$12,000.00
- Total First Year Costs = A$67,000.00
Ongoing Yearly Costs
- Technology Yearly Maintenance = A$15,000.00
- Administration / Director (Noel Posus) = A$20,000.00
- Research / Writing (Claire Stretch) = A$12,000.00
- Research / Writing (Sarah Hue-Williams) = A$12,000.00
- Total Ongoing Yearly Costs = A$59,000.00
Therefore, we have identified the following two commercial opportunities to fund the service:
Contribution From the Coaching Community – Our website has a dedicated space where members of the coaching community and other users of our site can provide a financial contribution of their choosing to help us fund the work we do for the community. Any contribution made becomes the amount on an invoice/receipt for “service provision” and is subjected to Australian Goods and Service Tax, included as 10% of the amount contributed. We will host regular campaigns to inspire users of the service to contribute funds to support this work. Contributions can be for any dollar amount.
Coaching Tools and Resources TOOLKIT – Every year, around January/February, we will publish that year’s “TOOLKIT”, commencing with the Coaching Tools and Resources TOOLKIT 2010. This is a DVD product which includes numerous tools, forms, resources, coaching models, exercises and multimedia files which are considered “premium” and therefore not available for “free” on the Coaching Tools and Resources website. Each year, the new version of the TOOLKIT, will have some of last year’s premium tools now available free on the website, and new premium tools included, which we have collected and developed throughout the year. Purchase price is A$165.00 for the TOOLKIT. If a returning customer who purchased the previous year’s TOOLKIT, the new version is available to them at the rate of A$100.00 as our way of saying thank you for the loyalty shown.
Affiliate Relationships – Coaching Tools and Resources has a number of affiliate relationships where the link we are providing you tracks any purchases you make and we earn a commission. This is not a substantial income generator for us. That said, over time it does help support some financial objectives including covering small operating expenses. Any affiliate links will be labelled as “CTAR Affiliate” so that you’re aware which links represent a commercial relationship.
The initial funding of Coaching Tools and Resources is being provided by Incredible Awareness, which our initial fundraising activities will go to pay back the original investment.
CONTRIBUTION TO COMMUNITY
The leadership team at Coaching Tools and Resources have unanimously selected World Vision as the way we want to contribute to the larger world community, in addition to the contribution we believe we are making with this site to the coaching community.
You can be redirected to the World Vision website to make your own contribution in the manner of your choosing. Not only will we be making our own financial contribution each year to this organisation, we will regularly run campaigns to encourage users of our site to contribute to World Vision and support them in the incredible work they do.
